Assembly and conversion
How you can easily connect the three S beds to form a family bed without any tools is explained in the assembly instructions on page 11, where you can also find out how to convert the bed to your desired size. You can also take a look at our video tutorial. The conversion can be reversed at any time.

Matching mattress & bed linen
Our sustainable mattress made from natural latex is the perfect complement to the cardboard bed. In general, all mattress types except futons are compatible with our bed. However, make sure that the mattress is at least 15 cm high and medium-firm to firm. Here you will find our super soft organic cotton bed linen. 

Note for smooth floors
For smooth floors, we recommend placing an anti-slip mat under the bed to prevent slipping.

The Family Bed 2.0 consists of three beds in size S, which you join together with the help of the enclosed connectors. The individual cardboard beds can be quickly and easily assembled in the desired width so that you have a free hand in designing your family bed. Another advantage: the family bed can be divided into individual beds at any time without tools when the time comes for a separate cot.

With a height of 33 cm, the family bed can be set up in a width between 240 and 300 cm and extended in length to 220 cm. If it's not needed because you want to use the space differently, you can simply fold it up - like a folding bed - and place the mattresses against the wall. The individual beds are so light that you can even carry them all by yourself, which is especially useful when moving house. 

The stable rhombic construction of our Bed 2.0 makes an additional slatted frame superfluous. The open structure ensures sufficient air circulation under the mattress and has no negative influence on the comfort of your mattress.

The Family Bed 2.0 - like all our cardboard furniture - is made of heavy-duty cardboard of the highest quality and is therefore particularly stable and durable. The well thought-out construction enables a high load-bearing capacity.Thus, the family bed 2.0 can support up to four people of 100 kg body weight each.

Furniture made of corrugated cardboard is not only characterised by its light weight, but also by its ecologically sustainable character. Our special AVANA corrugated cardboard contains 54 to 80 % recycled material and is 100% recyclable. The adhesives we use are based on vegan corn starch and the inks are water-based and solvent-free. At the end of its life cycle, the family bed can simply be disposed of in the waste paper bin and thus returned to the recycling loop. 

If you compare it with a conventional bed, the Bed 2.0 consumes 8,000 times less energy from raw material extraction to disposal and contributes 280 times less to global warming. Transport is also 4 times more climate-friendly than that of a standard bed - due to the low weight of the bed - and is carried out by us in a climate-neutral way anyway.

How do I assemble the family bed?
Depending on the size of your family bed, you only need to pull up the individual S-beds, convert them with a few simple steps (if necessary) and then connect them. The assembly/conversion process is described in our assembly instructions and does not require any tools. 

What sizes are possible for the family bed?
The family bed consists of three connected beds of size S and has a width of at least 240 to a maximum of 300 cm and a length of 200 to 220 cm. You can also connect it with additional beds of size S to go beyond a width of 300 cm.  

Can I change the size of the family bed afterwards?
The size of your family bed can be adjusted to your needs at any time. You can easily connect it to another Bed 2.0 or enlarge it by adding extension sets. In our assembly instructions you can find out how to achieve your desired bed size. 

How high is the family bed?
The family bed has a height of 33 cm.

Can I also use the beds individually?
Yes, you can. The big advantage of our family bed is that it consists of three connected S-size cardboard beds. Once your children are so big that they no longer sleep in your bed, you can simply remove one of the beds from the family bed and continue to use it in the children's room.

Can I fit a fall-out protection?
Yes, this is possible. For example, an L-shaped fall-out protection can be securely clamped between the mattress and the bed frame. Since there are many different brands, please always check whether the respective model is suitable. Alternatively, there are foam rods that you can position under the bed sheet. 

Which mattress goes with my family bed?
Our sustainable natural latex mattress is a perfect match for the cardboard bed and makes your bedroom even more sustainable. Apart from that, all mattress types - except futons - are compatible with our family bed. The only requirement is that the mattress has a minimum height of 15 cm and is medium-firm to firm. 

Do I need a slatted frame for the family bed?
No, a separate slatted frame is not necessary. You can simply place the mattress(es) on the family bed. The rhombus construction ensures sufficient air circulation under the mattress. By the way: The German consumer organisation Stiftung Warentest explicitly advises its readers to use a rigid slatted frame in a test result. That's exactly what our bed does.

How resilient is the family bed?
Even though it is made of cardboard, you can do everything on the bed that you do on a conventional bed. The sophisticated rhombic construction made of heavy-duty corrugated cardboard ensures a high load-bearing capacity. It can carry up to four persons with a respective body weight of up to 100 kg. In addition, it is tested according to DIN standard 1725:1998. So nothing stands in the way of long hours of romping! What's more, the bed can be opened and closed hundreds of times.
